Could 2D CAD design be replaced by 3D?

There are so many 3D CAD software available in recent years, is it possible to replace 2D in the future?

Hmmm, I think 3D will not replace 2D CAD software, because so many industries eg. CAE,CAM,CAT,CAPP,etc.,need 2D CAD software, by contrast, 3D CAD is stepping to a developping stage today.
In addition, today's platform CAD software is diversified, however, application CAD software is limited. Our company is in badly need of application CAD software, and we are located in India, do you guys have any suggestions for me? Which CAD software is more practical?
Noted: we are an architecture construction company.
